There’s some debate in the Espresso Deco office as to whether Coffee is refreshing. This is not a scientific study but a matter of opinion, and half of the office says “no”.
On a summer’s day (as today is) we do require a refreshing drink but are also in need of our espresso kick. It’s our regular drink and we still like to enjoy it outside in the sunshine. Many people have a hard time changing such habits, and perhaps there is no real need to. The drink doesn’t change the body temperature in an uncomfortable way and as a psychoactive stimulant the caffeine in the espresso give that “refreshing” or “energising” feel.
“Coffee is refreshing. No actually, Coffee is re-energising, but not refreshing. It’s the stop-gap between a previous task (i.e. shopping) and being able to move on to the next task. It’s all psychological though. Coffee is relaxing. Even with a small volume of coffee the psychological effect is to re-energise you.”
“It can be. It certainly wakes you up. On a warm day perhaps tea is more refreshing, especially green or herbal teas. Iced coffee is really good on a hot day.”
“Six espressos are no more refreshing than one. If you have one glass of water but aren’t refreshed then you would have another. Espresso feels like more of a palate cleanser than a refresher – it has a similar effect, changes the taste in your mouth”.
